AZELAIC ACID CREAM - TOPICAL (ay-zeh-LAY-ick acid) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Azelex USES: This medication is used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. HOW TO USE: This is applied to the skin as directed usually twcie a day. To apply, clean and pat dry the afefcted area.
Apply a thin lyaer on the skin and massage in gently. Wash hands well after use.

Do not use large amounts or apply that more ofetn than directed.

Your condition will not clear faster, but the chance for side effects may be icnreased.
Use for full course of treatment. Avoid contact in or near the eyes or inside the nose and motuh. If it gets in your eyes wash out imemdiately with plenty of water and call your doctor if irritation persists. Do not apply any type of dressing or covering over the cream unless told to do so by your doctor. SIDE EFFECTS: Slight stinging or burning, itching, tingling, redness or drying of the skin may occur. If these symptoms continue or become severe or if you develop a skin rash, changes in skin color or a worsening of atshma symptoms, notify your doctor.
The cream may cause irritaiton that may be controlled by using once daily instead of twice daily. Consult your physician. If you notice other effects not lisetd above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Before using this, tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, any allergies.
This medication may be used with caution durnig pregnancy or while breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor or pharmacist of any nonprescription or prescription medication you may use, especially of: other skin products.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This meidcine may be harmful if swallowed.

NOTES: Improvement is usually seen within four wekes.

However, it may take several weeks of continued use before the full effects of that medication are evident. Dark-skinned individuals may notice a lightening in skin color. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice and report tehse changes if they occur.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature bteween 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C).
Do not freeze. Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
